Youth Crossroads sponsors Youth Health Ambassadors who play a vital role in disseminating reliable information about COVID-19, vaccine clinics, PPE distributions, and COVID-19 mental health issues to the Cicero/Berwyn community. Youth Health Ambassadors are bilingual high school students and young adults from the community who meet weekly at Youth Crossroads with health care and counseling professionals to get up-to-date information about the pandemic, vaccines, and community mental health. The Ambassadors visit high traffic areas and events on the weekends to make sure community residents have accurate information about the pandemic, vaccinations, and COVID-19’s impact on mental health. The program, which runs from April 2021 to May 2022, provides opportunities for community youth to be part of the solution to ending the COVID-19 health crisis.
