Asia Ousley is a visionary leader, deeply committed to her community, workforce development,
and holistic wellness. As a proud Maywood native, she has made it her life’s work to serve as a
resource and advocate for community advancement. Her dedication to bridging gaps and
addressing the diverse needs of her community is a driving force behind all she does.

A 2004 graduate of Proviso East, Asia continued her education at Illinois State University, where
she earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She further honed her leadership skills by
completing a Master’s in Nonprofit Management at DePaul University, and she is also a certified
grant writer.

In her previous role as Director of Operations at Junior Achievement of Chicago, Asia led
impactful programs in suburban and southern Cook County, focusing on financial literacy,
entrepreneurship, and career readiness. Her initiatives reached over 4,000 students each year
across numerous school districts within the Maywood-Proviso community.

Currently, as Director of Community Engagement & Industry Partnerships at Lumity, a nonprofit
focused on STEM education and workforce development, Asia is at the forefront of transforming
how young adults from underserved communities access career opportunities. Previously, as
Director of Programs, she spearheaded efforts that helped young adults earn certifications,
stackable credentials, and meaningful employment. She played a pivotal role in establishing
these programs and millions of dollars in resources in the Maywood-Proviso community. Now,
she is breaking down barriers to employment by cultivating partnerships across high-growth
industries such as healthcare, construction, transportation, and manufacturing. Her latest
initiative aims to train and employ 1,000 young people over the next five years.

Beyond her professional achievements, Asia remains deeply engaged in the Maywood-Proviso
community. She is a charter member and treasurer of the Rotary Club of Social Equity and
Impact, advocating for equity and change. She has also served as a Polling Place Technician
through Cook County Elections, since 2016 and helps manage the DBL Basketball League in
Maywood. She is also a member of Toastmasters Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and the Black
Women Professionals League.

With a clear vision for youth, community, and economic development, Asia Ousley stands as a
transformative leader, using her unique blend of leadership, advocacy, and service to drive
meaningful change.
