ORGANIZATION
Youth Crossroads provides counseling services, crisis intervention, after-school enrichment programs, youth leadership training, workforce development, college and job readiness, mentorship, summer camp, and community service to youth in Chicago’s near west suburbs of Berwyn, Cicero, Stickney, Summit, and Forest View. We provide a comprehensive system of support to help youth navigate the personal, academic, and career challenges they face in their daily lives.
Youth Crossroads is the only organization in our community that provides trauma-informed care, gun violence prevention, and youth development free of charge in English and Spanish. Our community is 86% Latina/o/x (primarily 1st and 2nd generation families), and 8% Black. 87% of residents are low-income. More than 90% of youth who participate in our counseling programs report feeling better about themselves and having more control of their future. Our gun violence reduction programs have proved effective in reducing violent crime by providing trauma-informed care, community service, and workforce development to youth most at-risk. In 2022, 100% of seniors in our Youth Leadership Program enrolled into college (95% in 2021), significantly higher than their peer group.
OPPORTUNITY
Youth Crossroads’ Board of Directors are transforming lives and communities. They are helping to support and develop dynamic programs that respond to the youth mental health crisis, gun violence epidemic, and income inequality that is profoundly impacting low-income communities of color. We are looking for creative, compassionate, and resourceful individuals to join our crusade to give our extraordinary youth and opportunity to build a brighter future.
